You already know what bending over a thousand times does to your back. The Hookeroon (also called a hookaroon or pickaroon) solves that repetitive strain.
Drive the pick into a round, a slab, a piece of split wood, and move it without bending. One hand. No grabbing armfuls. No awkward angles. Sink, move, release, repeat.
The rubber indexing nub on the handle positions your hand automatically so the pick is oriented right, even with work gloves on.

I first purchased one of these back in 2018. 8 years of hard abuse with this handy tool and it never failed or disappointed me. I use it for unloading hard to reach split wood from the bed of the truck. As well as using it to skid big rounds of oak, cherry, and maple to the wood splitter. I use it when I'm sitting at the splitter to drag out of reach wood within my grasp. I use it to pick up stackable wood so I don't have to bend over. After a long day of wood processing it works pretty good as a cane too! A few weeks ago I was using our skid loader to move some big logs around. I had been using the hookeroon to move logs around to square them up with my forks. I hopped in the loader with my hookeroon like I've done a million times. I set my prized tool with the handle sticking out by my leg. When I went to set the log down the boom caught the handle and snapped the handle right in half in the middle. It took a ridiculous amount of hydraulic force to snap that thing, and it was totally my fault it happened. My wife was there when this tragedy occurred, and see could see the sadness in my eyes. She took the broken pieces of my prized tool and went to the woodchuck products website and ordered me a new one! Customer service is awesome, and I will never own another brand. If you are on the fence about buying one you absolutely can not go wrong with a woodchuck hookeroon.
This is my first hookaroon but I really like it so far. Got it primarily to pull firewood rounds out of my pickup and it saves me from having to jump in the bed as soon and less amount of times so it definitely adds efficiency to my firewood processing.Very lightweight, very easy to set the hook.I wish it were longer for my specific purpose, plus I’m tall and could use the extra length but I knew the length going in (I would buy a 36” version of this).UPDATE: I’ve used the Woodchuck hookaroon to unload around 2 cords so far (4 pickup loads) and this tool has been indispensable. Especially for pulling large rounds that weigh 75-100lbs. I still want a 36-42” version though.
This hookeroon is the best one on the market!!! I was hookin' all of my split logs to throw in the fire and the handle stayed sturdy. 1000/10 build quality!
Rubber grip and all fasteners were loose. Minor annoyance but let’s dial up the QA/QC.
Makes pulling wood out of the back of the truck easier. You can stab it in a chunk I wood on the ground an either drag it where you want or ease in picking it up
If you camp or have a mountain home, you need one to help collect firewood!
This tool makes moving and stacking wood so much easier. I was skeptical because it did not like look like the old style pickaroon. Its better.
Does not have a hook to secure the wood.Takes repeated stabs to get a grip on firewood. Worthless.
How is it a tool like this is so uncommon in this region? I own a saw mill and cut firewood for 3 households. This tool has made my life so much easier. There is a bit of a learning curve with it but it has been a godsend. A friend was helping me yesterday and he was amazed at what it can do. He plans to order two; one for him and one for a relative.
Where has this been my entire life? To say I like it is really an understatement. Light weight. Becomes an extension of your arm. Like the finger peg. It allows for a better grip when picking up or pulling. It is also in the same orientation as the head. Allows you to know the direction of the head without having to look.
Why I didn’t have this sooner I don’t know? What I do know I won’t be with out it . Well built tool you will have the rest of your life . Made in the USA is a great find .
Excellent addition to ease work in the woods or firewood prep. Used it mostly on the log pile. Saves a lot of rassling with a log.
Works well. Grabs log and allows rolling and moving just like it’s supposed to. Comfortable handle. Great hookeroon.
This is a quality built tool. It is light weight, yet strong. I have used it for 2 years now and the point is still sharp. I wish I would have bought this a long time ago!
Arrived on time, in good condition, functions as described. Very convenient and practical tool for scrap wood and small logs.
Both woodchuck tools that I purchased are excellent. I would highly recommend them to anyone, they are made very strong and easy to use. I would buy them again without hesitation....
Great tool for working on the woods helps a lot .
great product!
So far do good. Light and feels good in the hand. Will updates if I have any problems. More words. More words.
Plenty sharp and light weight but not as good as my Peavey Hookaroon
This tool is a back saver. Once you use it you will wonder how you got along without it.
Nice pick. I like the feel of it. I docked a star because after a couple mixed cords of oak, hickory and cherry, the tip has worn down a bit and already needs resharpening. Part of it is probably operator error, but the tip would be better served made out of steel rather than aluminum. I would also love to have a few more inches of reach for when im digging wood out of the back of the truck, so i can reach that last row in the 6.5' bed without having to get up in the bed. Also, just a little more weight in the head would help sink the pick into wood a little more, but might adversity affect fatigue. As it is, its well built. I'm happy overall, and I think I sold a couple more for you. One to my neighbor, and one to a coworker.
I have been dealing with firewood for quite some time and a few years ago my wife bought me Woodchuck's log lift. Which is nearly an indestructible tool. As you know dealing with firewood is down right back breaking so after looking on Amazon I found the Woodchuck Hookaroon. Once I got I was like a kid on Christmas morning I tore the box open and went out pickin cuts up for about a half hour. I even rolled a few logs over with the added leverage of the Hookaroon. It was last weekend than I gave the ultimate test 9 hours each day; Saturday and Sunday, basically it was an extension of my arm. It currently looks like it has been used for years upon years. I beat this tool to the point where I had enough. It has held up and I really really wanted to test to its breaking or malfunctioning point and it has just taken the abuse. Great tool and a back saver for sure. Definitely a must for the firewood enthusiast.
